Art Walk 2018
Calling all Artists—we have officially started accepting submissions for the 13th annual Nyack ART WALK taking place Friday, June 15 through Sunday, June 17, 2018
The “penny” has been a great source of conversation and proverbs, as well as food for the piggy bank, an old jar, and of course, thought. A penny saved is a penny earned, a penny wise/a pound foolish, costs a pretty penny, penny pincher, not a penny to my name, worth every penny, pennies from heaven, are amongst the many sayings we have grown up with.
“A Penny For Your Thoughts” is the theme for this year’s event. We all need to reflect and give a voice to our thoughts and feelings. So here’s your chance with this quite an open-ended theme but yes it does have a hitch! Each Artist must create one (1) piece reflecting the theme in your chosen medium. This year your challenge is to incorporate “a penny” somewhere and in some way, into your theme piece. We choose the ART WALK poster from these submissions so make it work!!
Please feel free to take full advantage of artistic license and create something fabulous that speaks to this theme! The deadline for this submission is no later than March 1st. You must send a jpg of this piece, or the work in progress. Please adhere to the deadline as the poster and all the publicity around ART WALK 2018 depends on this piece. Lead times for ads, printing, etc. are tight so if you want to be considered, you must send in your work on time.
The rest of your work need not relate to the theme. In addition, please submit 3-5 jpgs of works you would like to exhibit along with descriptions, medium used, sizes and prices. This is a juried event. I will help you edit and/or price your collection once you have been selected. All submissions must be sent to me, Paulette Ross, via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org . If necessary you may be asked to bring some pieces in person. If you are selected to participate in ART WALK 2018, note that your Venue will be chosen for you. Yes, there is a method to the madness!!
Click on the link below for the contract fully detailing the guidelines for the event. (Note that the Venues have a related contract as well.) In short you must be in your Venue for the days and times of the event, adhere to setup and breakdown times arranged, where to send your $125 entry fee made out to Rivertown Film and ART WALK printed in the memo part of your check, etc. You, the Artist, keep all monies made on your sales apart from a 3% fee going back to the Venue if sale is made through their credit card machine. Note the deadline for the contract/fee is no later than March 10th.
You will receive updates with notices of any special events within ART WALK 2018, publicity pieces and files for you to promote the event, as well as posters and brochures for you to distribute outside of Nyack.
